#7 The Pulp Fiction Ultra Limited Edition Makeup set: review.

The Pulp Fiction Ultra Limited Edition Makeup set

A brand new collection from Urban Decay has grabbed my attention more than most this month with its unique Pulp fiction theme. I studied A-level media and used to love decoding films, getting under the narrative and into the intentions of the director. Quintin Tarantino's narratives are a media student’s dream. His characters and epic one liners create an action packed, often philosophical and ethical ride. This year is Pulp fiction’s 20th anniversary. Since it’s a classic and one of my favourite films this collection genuinely excited me! I have the Lipstick and Nail polish out of the collection and I absolutely love them both. Though the other pieces are very cool I got these two as gifts from a makeup insider: )
Let’s have a closer look!

The collection is based on the iconic Mia Wallace who is known for her dangerously blood red Chanel lipstick think speaker-com and doing the twist in a 1950’s diner with John Travolta.

 The Mia Wallace Lipstick

First up is the £15 lipstick. When I applied it I found that it’s not so much blood as it is a classic red. I actually prefer this colour. It’s rich, creamy and nourishing on my lips and doesn’t dry out or bleed. This is the first revolution lipstick I’ve tried and I’m already a big fan. Plus it's long lasting 6/7 hours and I found that I only had to reapply to my inner lips. It comes in a black version of the original gun metal case.

Secondly the £10 nail varnish to match; also named Mia Wallace is a deep red hue with a high shine effect and perfect for the winter and autumn months. I personally prefer the glossy effect it has than the described shimmer one. All in all I was very pleased with the ease and preciseness of the applicator and with the strength of the polish. It only took two coats and top coat to create a professional look.

The Mia Wallace polish

If you’re an Urban Decay fanatic or a die-hard Pulp Fiction fan this set is a collectors dream… from the little boxes they are packaged in which have quotes from the film written on and blood spatters with the iconic yellow 80’s style writing it's pretty cool and well worth the pennies. I want to complete my collection so roll on loan day, sooner than later please, this collection is limited in Selfridges and Debenhams!

#6 Music post.

WHY WE LOVE RAINY MILO.

          Firstly she's a Londoner.

                                                                    Second her hat game.

Thirdly Milo's a music sensation at 18, soulful, honest and ahead of the game - super calm vibes. The BRIT school dropout was inspired by Jazz and Hip Hop and began mixing poetry with Jazz instrumentals aged just 14.

"There was so little of that where I lived; an area which gave little hope to anyone,
it's almost like they were told that they had a crappy fate and were willing to just go along with it."
-Rainy speaking on positive influences when she was growing up

Starting out in Croydon Rainy was whisked away to LA to record with Gaga's label. She's the real deal yet remains grounded in the grand scheme of things, which is an indicator for true success.

Not only is she talented Milo's style is always perfection. Her dress sense is a trademark of retrospective Britain, mixing modern clothing with retro pieces. Like the antique print on her bomber jacket mixed with gold jewelery. She takes fashion advice from her mother and older sister and hails "charity shops in rich area's."
"I'm not original I am simply a physical collective of my influences"

Rainy released her mix tape "Limey"in 2013. Her latest release is her debut album "This thing of ours" which came out march 3rd.
Featuring 'Bout you.

The Guardian describes her as having "the wit of Lily Allen, the sincerity of Corinne Bailey Rae and the panache of MIA."

Talented, stunning and humble. Ermm what's not to love? Rainy's the perfect mix.. of art and British realism her sultry voice slows things down. Her albums perfect for lazy days and long journey's. Listening to Rats is like escaping from the rat race.

 Track list
1. Are you sure
2. 'Bout you
3. This thing of ours
4. Rats
5. Miss you
6. Treasure girl
7. In this place
8.Deal me briefly
9. Wimbledon
10. so uneasy

#5. Quick and easy tips to increase your happy vibes

The last month has been a test from the heavens so I haven't posted in the longest. Long story short last minute student house hunting is a masssive drain on life (and pocket). It's actually harder than it seems even when you have everything covered letting agents will always find a way to mess with your happy vibes. So whilst I'm semi-homeless, staying at a mates, juggling jobs and my diss proposal. I want to breath some much needed life into my blog with an energy boosting post.

9 ways to boost your energy when you're on zero..

1. Calm your panties. Take 10 deep..slow.. breaths. Not all, but a lot of your problems are in your mind, sometimes worrying about what needs to be done rather than doing it uses more energy. Most things will seem better with a clear head.

2. Sing as loud as you like. Soz neighbors, but my sanity is more important than your daily fix of Eastenders. This will bring you into the present and increase your happy vibes (something to do with sound waves) Click here to find out how sound waves can give you the same feeling as a martini ;)

3. Open the windows, let the fresh air in especially if you're stuck inside for long periods.Or go outdoors take a walk around the block, the fresh air will do you good.

4. Get some lovin. A few words of encouragement go a long way.

5. Stay dehydrated. We all know the effects of dehydration, please don't assume your super human or Nemo and don't need your 2 liters a day.

6. Add a slice of lemon. The smallest things send happy signals to our brain. Plus lemon is healthy and helps with weight loss. You can double pat yourself on the back for being bothered to slice it and that your taking care of your body!! When life give you lemons..

7. Consume zi fruit, especially berries and banana's. Mix it into a super smoothie to gain natural energy from the sugars, look you may need the toilet but the 7 pounds lighter feeling will no doubt increase your mood.

8. Get enough sleep. It's prettty obvious, but especially for me seems to be the hardest one. 7 to 8 hours will turn you're mornings and frown around.

9. Tea. Earl gray. Nothing more.

So these are free and easy tips to instantly boost your mood. Enjoy staying cool as a cucumber no matter what mother earth throws your way.

#4 Fashion post: Get festival ready

Just recently I went to park life which was amazing, the people, performances and general atmosphere made it an unforgettable weekend. What really stood out for me.. was the creativity that went into so many outfits, festival fashion = freedom, and from Boho to grunge, tassels to sequins prettty much anything goes. With so many more festivals approaching, Leeds, wireless, Global gathering and Camp Bestival to name a few now is the time to order your tickets, get suited and booted (prepare for lots of mud) and get yourself to the nearest and loudest field.

#1 Tiger lilly
Stand for something or fall for anything, block colours and leather are key to standing out whilst fringing gives the look a native feel trending for festival season. Boot up in style with patent hunters and team with gold rimmed sunnies and face gems to jazz up this look.

Almost anything that has tassels makes me smile, but this satchel.. i LOVE. The vintage floral print on the back teamed with the leather fringe takes me on adventures I'm yet to have. In fact this outfit reminds me of Jane in Tarzan but in a good way haha. It's Boho and relaxed yet elegant. I'm not just obsessed with watch bracelets.. it's also pretty handy for keeping time of your fav performers.

#3 Ten reasons Why GIRL needs to be on your summer playlist

G I R L

1. Two words laid and back, this one is dedicated to the girls.

"We cannot help who we are attracted to
so lets dance and uplift each other"

 2. It doesn't get much better when it comes to the feel good factor of GIRL with beats and lyrics as goofy as his crazay hats.

3. It's open to everybody all you have to do is admit your own joy.

4. This years most annoyingly catchy tune "Happy" will help you realize this.

"Ain't it sad that there's people in the world
that don't know how this feels"

5. The album oozes, sex and appeal. Sexy uncluttered beats, jazz kissed keyboards and falsetto's. This is the good guys mating call paying homage to beautiful women.. thank me later.

"Get your motors running"

6. GIRL features Alicia keys, Daft punk& Justin Timberlake.

7. It's less Tom Ford slippers and more.. bare feet swinging of the pier. Oh! the natural highs.

8. Funk's switched all the way up bringing back the universal waves of 70s/80s R&B so you can't help but get the tingles.

"I think you are a lost queen
Let me serve you, serve you"

9. It's Pharrell so you know it's real. His 20 yr proven track record has seen him produce and/or perform some of the biggest hits with Miley, Jay Z, Kanye, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Adam Lambert, Britney Spears and many more.

10. So what if he's hitting on 40 he's only getting better in 2013/2014, need proof just look at his first UK number 1's Blurred lines, get lucky and happy. Who said nice guys always finish last?

#2 Visualization - Daydreaming with a purpose

A little positivity and knowledge goes a long way so I'll try to keep FEM Energy posts as refreshing, as this ...

So your thinking I can find positive affirmation quotes, diet plans and fitness regimes all over social networking sites, very true.. but a diva appreciates every form of positivity it is fuel for her thought and sparks her creativity. She's more likely to learn something new because she always makes time for two things 1.self reflection and 2.self appreciation which helps her reach her goals. Focusing on the former self reflection, today's post will be on visualization.

The simplest way to stay 100% focused on your goal is to visualize it in your minds eye first, it takes a lot of focus to find out what you really want, the more detail you go into the better. I heard this somewhere and it always stuck, don't get bitter, get better. Take note that mentally visualizing your goals is the key to you reaching them, and it's no secret. Many wealthy and successful people openly talk about the power of visualization.

vi•su•al•i•za•tion

1. The act or instance of visualizing.
2. (Psychology) a technique involving focusing on positive mental images in order to achieve a particular goal.

(Find your inner lioness to get her paws on well... anything imaginable)

Don't just take my word for it

Wallace wattles wrote a book way back in 1910 on the power of the mind and visualization called The science of getting rich. It's now one of the most studied success books to date and well worth a read, click for the link here. Notice the cover links to the more recent book the secret if your familiar with the laws of attraction. He's one of the first of many writers on this subject yet his techniques still apply today. Wattle created methods such as manifestation and influenced other well known authors and thinkers like napoleon hill.

Celebrities who use visualization

Natan Sharansky, a computer specialist who spent 9 years in prison in the USSR after being accused of spying for the US had loads of experience with visualization. While in solitary confinement, he played himself at mental chess, saying: “I might as well use the opportunity to become the world champion!” What do you know, in 1996, Sharansky beat world champion chess player Garry Kasparov.

Even Beyonce's down with the power of visualization, who stated in an interview with Vogue that she used visualization techniques along with breathing methods to push past the pain during baby blue's birth.“And I imagined this tiny infant doing all the work, so I couldn’t think about my own pain. We were talking. I know it sounds crazy, but I felt a communication.” Yeah you do sound kinda crazy B, but the imaginations powerful stuff, there are many cases where people use mind over matter techniques to overcome pain.

 Powerful quotes

Oprah Winfrey shared her philosophy on success with TV host Larry King, “You really can change your own reality based on the way that you think.”

“Life is a menu so remember whoever and whatever you order for your life is what’s gonna be delivered to your table.” Tyrese Gibson

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." Eleanor Roosevelt

“It’s all about the work, … Nothing is going to fall into your lap. If you want to be a lawyer, see yourself as a lawyer, go to the library and start learning the law. If you want to be a rapper, start rapping and get out there. Live your life as if you already are where you want to be.” Russell Simmons

How to put the practice in motion

Picture what you want in your mind, the more detailed the picture the more focused you will be when noticing opportunity's that will help you obtain your goal. To turn yourself into a magnet spend at least 5-10 minutes a day on your image and you will start to notice changes, be patient Rome wasn't built in day but the more you practice the quicker you'll find ways to achieve your goal.

Tips

•    Relax
•    Be detailed
•    Use all of your senses; sight, smell, touch, sounds
•    Believe what you see as if you are living the scene or have the item of your desire
•    Talk about your goals and desires to friends this makes them seem even realer
•    Find pictures of these things for motivation

 Insert your visualizations here..  ;)

#1 Burberry inspired pastels.

(Yummy)

Pastels add that understated splash of colour to any wardrobe and I'm down for anything that gives me a chill but girly feeling, so I was an instant fan of this collection. UK weather is unpredictable at best we'll get a mini heatwave and the rest of the summer is clouds so pastels work. Feminine blue's, pinks, lilacs, yellow's and greens mimic the blossoming season over spring, imagine breezy mornings to lazy summer nights. Christopher Bailey's summer/spring Burberry Prorsum collection combines pastels with amazing cuts and lacy fabrics to create functional elegance. It's slightly 90's but I'm loving that because 90's babies rule.... Sorry not sorry if you were born in a different decade, we invented mood rings and the denim dungaree trend.

Matching combo's are trending

Yay to jewels and statement pieces this summer
Embellished pieces add decadence and are staple of Burberry
